On Tuesday, a strong earthquake with a magnitude of 7.1 hit the border area between Kyrgyzstan and Xinjiang, China. Many people were injured, and houses collapsed, according to Chinese state media. The earthquake’s epicenter was in the mountainous region of Wushi County in Xinjiang, with reports of aftershocks. The Xinjiang railway department stopped operations, affecting 27 trains. China’s Earthquake Administration and Ministry of Emergency Management activated emergency responses, providing relief efforts and supplies. Similar seismic activity was reported in Kazakhstan, causing residents to flee their homes in Almaty. No damage was reported in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
